Rebekah Knause, L. Ac., LMT, RYT is one of the acupuncturists at Balanced You Clinic. We got to talk with her about the benefits of receiving an integrative bodywork session. This treatment has been available with Rebekah for a long time. You may have previously booked a session with her for an “acupuncture massage combo,” and that is an integrative bodywork session! Keep reading to learn more about integrative bodywork, and remember, all of our acupuncturists offer integrative bodywork sessions which are customizable to your unique needs.
- What can a person expect in a bodywork session with you, Rebekah? An integrative bodywork session with me is a combined massage and acupuncture treatment. First I will ask my client, “how is your body feeling today?” Then they receive one or multiple bodywork treatments: tui na, cupping, gua sha, or ashiatsu massage, depending on what they need. An integrated bodywork session with me is unique because I am able to incorporate my 25 years of massage experience into the bodywork aspect of the session. As the practitioner, I can learn more about what is going on with a person’s body through hands-on therapies. Following the bodywork portion of the treatment, we would move into a regular acupuncture appointment, so, I would take your pulses and administer an acupuncture treatment.
- What are the benefits of integrative bodywork? In comparison to an acupuncture session alone, the fantastic thing about an integrative treatment is that we are able to open up the body with hands-on treatment to prepare it for an acupuncture session. In this way, I get more body feedback helping to design your acupuncture treatment. Plus it just feels good to get a massage!
- How can an integrative bodywork session help to support folks in the transition from spring to summer? May is represented by the earth element in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In the earth season of the year, an integrative bodywork treatment helps the body to release tension in the joint spaces which helps us flow into the summer season with ease.
